The Best Days
I was just trying to work on updating this a bit for you and saw my last post mentioning how you don’t speak that much. So much has changed since that time though! You speak a lot more now than you did and I absolutely love to hear you!
It’s a bit tricky though when everything gets busy, but I try to make an effort to ensure I’m looking at you and acknowledging that I hear you and am listening. I want you to always grow up feeling like you had parents that listened with understanding.
One of my absolute favorite moments in any day is when you call to me to show me or tell me something and say “hey Daddy” in that particular way that you do. It’s hard to describe, but it’s just your voice and the way you reach for my attention in those moments that I absolutely adore.
It’s late here my amazing Son, so I’ll get to bed soon. I just wanted you to know what we love you and adore you so incredibly much!
Feel better soon!
Hey Leo! You’ve been sick recently and we’ve been to the doctors quite a few times in attempts to try and figure it out. When you eat, you cringe in pain and put your left hand over your ear, so something hurts a lot when you eat. We’ve temporarily switched to a homemade baby food since it’s easier to swallow. We’re hoping you feel better soon.
You’re often quiet and don’t speak much, but the teachers at your daycare class say you talk a lot! I wish you would talk more to us! We love hearing you son, and want to hear everything you think!
Other than the temporary sickness mentioned above, you’re doing great and super healthy! I’m still working on getting your room together but I keep getting pulled into so many other things. I feel like that’s our life nowadays, always trying to play catchup!
We love you son so much! We’re so proud of you and know you will become an amazing man in the far future! Always remember who you are! Love you forever and ever Leo!

The Key to Immortality
The key to immortality is to stick around. I know it sounds funny when said that way, but there’s a quote that says something along the lines of “we only truly die when our name is spoken for the last time”. I understand this to mean our memory is what keeps us alive.
I’m starting this blog for you Leo, in hopes that no matter how much time I may have, at least some of my words and memories will remain. Don’t worry though, my goal is to stick around as long as humanly possible (and maybe inhumanely if possible?) so I can see you grow up into the incredible man I know you will be.
Life is a lonely road, I think that is often the case especially for men. I’ve seen comments online from men on this idea and they all seemed to say the same things I’ve noticed and felt in my life as well–that you’re often alone, that you have such a burden of responsibility to always not only take care of yourself, but others as well, while often feeling like you don’t have anyone to look out for you. In my much younger years, I think I felt this because I didn’t truly recognize the people around me whom cared for me. In my older years, many if not most of those people are now gone and it truly is more and more a world where I’m all I have to take care of me.
In light of all that said above, I think the most important thing I can try to teach you is to pay attention and be aware. Not only be aware of your surroundings at all times for safety sake, but make extra effort to be present in the moment so that you don’t miss all the people that will love and care for you so dearly.
Looking back, I feel I was often detached from the present moment while growing up, usually stuck in my own head and thoughts. I would caution against this and encourage you to pay attention to yourself, your mind and how you think. It’s about properly balancing how to think your thoughts while still being present in the world and alive.
I’m proud of you and know that you’ll grow into an amazing person no matter what path you choose in life! Stand and feel your worth my son; know who you are. Know that you carry within you all of us, and all of your experiences and knowledge that you will gain. Within you lies an entire universe that you create with every breath you take. Although people can be similar in various ways, there is not and never will be another person like you in the universe, or even multiverse if it exists, for there can never again exist a person such as yourself made up of all your circumstances, your choices, your thoughts and joys and all of the special things that make you you.
I love you with all my heart Leo. Helping bring you into this world is the most important thing I’ll ever do because I know that the world is undoubtedly a better place with you here.
I’ll continue to post on here for record, and keep this site as long as I can. I love you son! See you tomorrow!
